(3) SAADI'S QUEST: PROLOGUE

Vision quests come from ancient traditions where one uses the journey to learn about themselves and in the process possibly learn more about the mysteries of the universe.  Images of Native American and African youth going through rites of passage and of knights seeking honor come to mind; however a quest can begin with the simple “quest”ion of Who Am I? and Why am I here?

The duration of the quest can last from a day, week, or month, to one or many years.  The time is determined by the length it takes the questor to get the answer to the question or questions they seek.

Perhaps it is necessary to walk for miles and miles, enter altered states, dance to exhaustion, fast, endure prolonged periods of deprivation, and on and on.  At the heart of it all, is the belief that faith will be the vehicle to access a higher power, allowing divine guidance.  Answers come in many ways, dreams, a thought during prayer, or even a sequence of events recognized and observed.

Native Americans believed the visions that emerged during the quest provided clarification, wisdom and possibly even glimpses of the future, all of this a benefit not only to the individual but to the entire community.  More importantly the quest proved the worth of oneself to oneself.

Saadi’s dream marked the beginning of her quest.  Much was yet to come.  Her journey would bring her face to face with the relationships closest to her, especially the one with herself. Here is but one stage of Saadi’s journey as she seeks to reconcile karmic issues that lay deep and close to her heart and soul, issues that involve her perception of life, her life and herself.  This is…

  1. Will continue to follow the installments! I had many spiritual experiences in Sedona, AZ and Edmonton, Canada. My spiritual astrological line runs through both of them.
interested to see how this pans out.
